Ovarian cysts do not usually of themselves cause pain. Symptoms that could indicate the presence of a cyst include discomfort during intercourse, swelling of the abdomen, pelvic pain, spoting or bleeding, pain while passing stools, frequent urination, fatigue, pain around menstruation and sudden pangs of pain that could indicate that the cyst has ruptured or that has damaged the ovary in some way.
As with most other medical problems, food plays a big part of the healing of an ovarian cyst. Changing to an organic wholefood diet, cutting out refined and processed foods. Cut from your diet GM foods, white wheat flour products and all dairy products including cheese, butter, milk and milk proteins. Cut out all sugar including corn syrup, maple syrup and honey products. Avoid red and processed meats and instead choose fish and organic chicken. Avoid alcohol, smoking and food preserved in plastics and don’t use the microwave.
Eat plenty of organic vegetables especially dark green ones – cabbages, brussels sprouts, and broccoli. Also good are organic red coloured fruits and vegetables, pulses, nuts seeds and as many raw vegetables as possible. Plants should make up the majority of your daily food intake. You can eat fatty fish such as sardines, herring and wild salmon.
Give your digestion a rest by having one fast day week when you should only drink organic vegetable juices and spring of distilled water. If you have a juicer and can face it have an entire week on juices only – making your own from vegetables and fruit. Stress reduction is imperative, and the release of the stress hormone cortisol might just be one of the things responsible for the formation of the cyst in the first place.
Take to herbal remedies, tribulus, milk thistle, wild yam root, yarrow maca root, a probiotic and a vitamin supplement containing all the trace minerals needed by the body.

Compresses can be used to ease any discomfort. Use a large piece of cloth, such as unbleached muslim. Prepare a bowl of hot water to which you have added 4 drops of geranium, 3 drops of the patchouli, 3 drops of cypress, and 4 drops of Juniper berry essential oil. Lower the material into the water, absorbing the essential oil and water and place the wet warm compress over the lower abdominal for 10 to 15 minutes. Do this once a day for a week. take a week off and repeat the cycle.

Cypress 10 drops
Geranium 20 drops
Basil 5 drops
Juniper Berry 7 drops
Add these amounts to 2 tablespoons (30 mL) of carrier oil. Apply a small amount over the abdominal area, from under the breasts to the lower abdomen and over the lower back – the lumbar spine region – into the crease of the buttocks but no further. In addition geranium oil has been successfully used undiluted over the affected side prior to using the body oil – use 2 drops of geranium oil twice a day for 10 days. Then use the body oil for 10 days then repeat with the geranium and body oil for a further 10 days. Continue during the menstrual cycle.
