You are in a meeting and about to lose it. Or, you are in meeting and so angry that your voice box appears to have been entirely temporarily incapacitated. You know this is going to end in one of two ways and neither of them are pretty. You lose it totally and spend the next 48 hours feeling guilty about what you said. You don’t find your voice and spend the next 48 hours feeling angry with yourself about what you didn’t say.
Either outcome gives something you really don’t need any more of – making yourself feel awful.
A modified version of this kundalini yoga exercise (known as a “kriya”) may prove to be your saving grace if you can manage to buy yourself a little time with a water cooler / bathroom break.
When you can get yourself into a private space, try the following:
Make your hands into fists with your thumb on the inside, touching your palm below your little finger
Close your eyes and focus up at the brow point.
Do a powerful Breath of Fire through an O-shaped mouth.
With your arms bent, flip one arm overhead and then the other,
Literally work the anger out of your body
Continue for 3 minutes
Inhale, hold the breath, interlace your fingers, and stretch your arms up with your palms facing the ceiling.
Imagine yourself surrounded with white shimmering light.
Keeping your arms up, exhale and then take two more breaths, inhaling, holding the breath as you stretch and feel yourself surrounded with white shimmering light, white upon white.
Exhale, relax and return to the office / meeting like the serene office Goddess that you are.
