It is a known fact that one of the biggest causes of illness is stress.
However, relaxing and meditation can be difficult when you have been in a stressful environment all week, every week. Incense can really help to create a calm environment to allow transition from a stressful anxious space to a tranquil space for meditation and relaxation.
Using Incense
Light your chosen incense.
Take some slow, deep breaths until you are completely present in the moment. Relax your mind and thoughts, take a moment to tune in to your body and heart. Let all of the muscles of the head and face relax, then let go of any tension in the neck and shoulders, relax the arms, chest, back, legs, and feet. Exhale deeply a few times and release any tension from your head to your feet.
Once you calm the mind, relax the body and tune in to your heart, begin to bring your focus upon the incense itself.
Cedar
The Cedar tree is extremely grounding and as such is particularly good at helping with anxiety and stress. The incense literally makes you feel “rooted” and as such less out of control or overwhelmed.
Extremely calming, cedar can help strengthen the spirt and build confidence needed to deal with anxiety and stress and de-stress the body.
Cedar is also widely used for spiritual and energetic protection.
Due to its grounding energy, cedar can help when facing personal challenges, overcoming nervousness, self-doubt and insecurities.
Lavender
Lavender’s aroma is calming yet stimulating at the same time. It can aid in meditation as it helps one to be more alert and present in the mind, yet calm and relaxed in the nervous system. Lavender’s core virtue is helping us to relax, lower pulse rates and blood pressure and decrease stress.
Lavender is fabulous sleep aid and helps to induce a deep, beneficial, rejuvenative sleep.
Lavendar assists with anxiety, restlessness, agitation and disturbed sleep.
Lavender is known to heal the spirit and bring balance and harmony to people’s lives. Lavendar is known to dispel negativity.
Lavender essential oil should not be directly applied to the skin undiluted or taken internally. Lavendar as an incense is a nice earthy alternative to essential oils.
Patchouli
Patchouli aids meditation and is very grounding and stabilizing to the mind when dealing with worry, anxiety, or over-thinking.
Patchouli is particularly good at helping mentally over-active people who tend towards tension, helping them to get in touch with their body, senses, movement, creativity, sensuality, and nature. Patchouli incense can be used to calm overactive minds and help people who are often overpowered by their own mind and thoughts.
Patchouli is used as a sedative to reduce stress and tension in the body/mind, and to treat insomnia, anxiety, depression, and nervousness.
Patchouli can also be used to treat colds, fever and headaches.
Calming and relaxing, Patchouli is also an aphrodisiac and helps with loss of libido.
